Rose Island Playhouse & Company, Inc. is a nonprofit community theater dedicated to bringing people together through the power of live performance. We exist to educate, enrich, and entertain—creating meaningful, family-oriented experiences that inspire creativity and connection across our community.
Our long-term vision is to establish a permanent theater in Charlestown—a vibrant, shared space where stories come to life, local talent thrives, and the arts are accessible to everyone. This future home will serve not only as a stage, but as a gathering place for the entire community.

At Rose Island Playhouse, we believe the future of the arts starts with opportunity.
Through scholarships and our Junior Board program, we invest in young artists—creating pathways for high school students to grow as performers, storytellers, and leaders within our community. By fostering both creativity and responsibility, we aim to develop not just strong artists, but engaged contributors to the future of live theater.
Jesse Lawson joined Rose Island Playhouse in the fall of 2024 as a set builder for Sandbag, Stage Left, which unexpectedly became his onstage debut after decades working behind the scenes. Shortly after, he was invited to join the Board of Directors, where he continues to support the organization’s growth and mission.
